Winter Solstice with the Krampus at Averau
Pagan traditions, ancient rites and Krampus under the stars
The Averau Refuge celebrates the longest night of the year with a unique event dedicated to the pagan traditions and pre-Christian rites that have survived in the Dolomites for over five centuries. An evocative evening, in collaboration with Anpezo Teufel, in which Krampus, fire and music will accompany guests on a journey through history, myth and legend.
A Cicero will guide the evening by explaining — in Italian and English — the origins of these customs: why the Krampus, what the solstitial fires represent, what rites were practiced in the valleys and how these traditions have come down to us.
A fire and sound show will make the experience intense and immersive.
