Tradition, fire and legend on the snow of the 5 Torri

The Averau Mountain Hut opens the new year with a unique event that has its roots in the ancient Ladin traditions: the Donaze in Pista, in collaboration with the Le Donaze de Col Association.

From 10:00 to 14:00, among sparkling snow and high-altitude views, the Donazes, demonic figures typical of the folklore of Colle Santa Lucia, will make their appearance around the refuge: rituals, sounds and movements that bring to light the mountain atmosphere of the past, with references to the celebrations of the beginning of the year and propitiatory fires.

Also the protagonist is the Vegia da Mont, the ancestral figure who, according to tradition, guards the passes and protects those who live and work at high altitude. His presence will accompany the Donaze on a journey between suggestion and legend. The event recalls the dynamics of the Krampus celebrations, but with an all-local identity: less hell, more tradition; Less fright, more mountains.
